The 1st one - January 2011 Newsletter

Here it is, complete with monthly special!  Have been meaning to get something like this up and running for a few weeks now, but with the Christmas preparations underway, it was put on the back burner.  I really enjoyed putting it together and hope that you will find it useful.  Thanks for sharing with friends and family if they are the "crafty type"!  Joc x

So what is there left to do when it is raining, the Aussie's are doing rather badly in the cricket and you've already done the Boxing Day Sales......make a card!
I really enjoyed  putting this card together, using the marker to stamp technique for the fruit was quiet fun and therapeutic?!  I used the Tart and Tangy stamp set and the paper for the background is Kraft and Confetti.  This one is going to be sent down to  my Mum and Dad - just for being their wonderful selves...... Enjoy the public holidays everyone, Joc x

Gift Certificates

Thought I would share with you my latest project - a Gift Voucher card.  I have decided to make the Gift Voucher in a personalised style specific to each customer. So in this card I made the focus on the recipients favourite colours - purples and grey.  With it being Christmas I couldn't resist adding in some bling with silver and glitter.  I just love the little provincial stamp set from the Life is Beautiful set, great for making a simple background on card stock.

Card Stock - Basic Grey and Perfect Plum
Inks - Silver
Stamp Sets - Delightful Decorations, Scribble This, Life is Beautiful.

Christmas - 4 days and counting.........

January 8th - Stratford Stamp and Scrap Session

Hi there everyone,
Hope this finds you all ready for a lovely (if not humid and hot) weekend.  I know I will not be too far away from some A/C, fan or my pool where ever possible!
As many of you know, the lovely Jodie will be away on her well earned and long over due family holiday in the new caravan over the Summer Holidays.  So with this in mind,  I have made a tentative booking for the second Saturday in January for our monthly Stamp and Scrap Day.  The date is the 8th of January, and I will run the day in the same format as the last two.  There will be lunch, tea and coffee as well as snacks, and please bring along a plate to share if you wish.  The Meeting Room will be available for us to use from 9-5 and cost will remain at $20 for the day.
I would love to get numbers organised before Christmas, so if you are thinking you would love to come along/have a break from the kids/work on some projects - please email me your RSVP by Monday December 20th.  I will be limiting numbers to 12 only, so be sure to confirm your place if you are interested.  Talk soon, Joc x

Word on the street....Stampin' Scrub

Just a quick note to fill you all in on some information that was passed on at our monthly team meeting today.  The supplier of the wonderful product Stampin' Scrub have advised the US Head Office that the materials may be out of stock soon.  This in turn means that shortly the product may be on back order in Australia.  Am sure that most of you have one of these essential items, but thought I would let you know in case you had been considering purchasing one in the near future.  Joc x

New Products and some great sales too

Have just updated my blog to include two great new promotions that are happening in the land of Stampin' Up!  Have a look on the left hand side of my blog, click on the images and away you go, it will lead straight to the publications.

The first is the December Frenzy Sale where there are stamp sets, markers and accessories for up to fifty percent off.  I have got my eye on the Fresh Cuts Stamp Set and Hodge Podge Accessory Pack.  Secondly, there is the Summer Mini Catalogue running from now until the end of March 2011.  There are some simply gorgeous stamp sets, I am in love with the Aviary set (p. 13)  as I have a bit of a bird and owl thing going on at the moment.  Well Scripted (p.18) has also been getting a bit of a work out in my latest creations as I think the curly wording is really elegant.

If you would prefer a hard copy of the Summer Mini or December Frenzy promotions, please send me an email and I will get one to you ASAP.  Right (sigh), best get onto cooking dinner........

Happenings

Hi girls,

Has felt like ages since I have checked in but there has just been so much happening in the past few weeks.
Add to that the lead up to the Silly Season and end of year at both my Kindy and kids school, I have just been flat out.

I am currently involved in helping Jackson's class (28 seven year olds) to create cards with Jodie.  It has been great and seeing the kids run with the program, take pride in their work, and also add some of their own ideas has just been wonderful.  With this in mind I am looking forward to getting some student classes after school up and running in 2011 at St Andrew's  - will let you know how this is progressing.

Our first Saturday Stamp and Scrap Day was fantastic and thanks to all who came along to craft in our wonderful room.  The next one at Stratford is only a few weeks away (4th December) and spaces are filling, at last count I think Jodie and I only had four spots left, so if you are thinking of coming along, be sure to let me know soon.

Love it, share it!  Joc x

Stampin' Up! Cairns Regional Training Day

I recently went along the the regional day at the Convention Centre here in Cairns to see what is new in terms of all things Stampin' Up!.  There were some great new techniques, especially some fabulous ideas with mixing chalks and embossing powders, stamping candles and great ways to use up all those cut offs we gather .  I can't wait to get started on trying the candle technique - great for X Mas just around the corner. Also dabbled in water colouring - I know can you believe it, my first try at this wonderful technique!  I loved using the free stamp set "Every Moment", who doesn't love something for free.  It really was a great day out with Leah, Jodie, Margrit and Susan, always fun to have time with the girls.  Enjoy the pics below of the day......Joc x

It's happened...Joc has the beginnings of a craft room....

There has been so much activity going on in our house this week.  All of the bedrooms and our toy room have had a big overhaul/ clean out/ re-arrange, so much so that there will be a garage sale at ours in a few weeks - EEK!

So, the end result of all of this hard work by my mother in law, I have the beginnings of a craft room, with office included.  I am so excited by the thought of having my own space, with room enough to be able to have intimate (AKA 3 girls max!) gatherings of girls over to my place.  Hope the pics give you an idea of where I am headed, enjoy!  Hope to get some more up soon once the computer desk is in.  The little fold out desk above Jackson has claimed as his own, as he wants us to work together - gotta love that boy!

Love it - share it, Joc x

Something Tropical - Team Meeting

I meant to get these up earlier, but have had surgery to remove my gall bladder this week, so am a little bit sore of late.  Recovery going well, it needs to, as I have to get onto the task of making 40 swaps for regionals next weekend!

Have a look at some of the examples that were made at our monthly team meeting this Monday.  We were set the task of designing "something tropical", so of course there were many examples with colour and texture.   Using he Tempting Turquoise card was made by Julie Seeto and the Card using whisper white and flowers from the Eastern Bloom Set was made by our faithful leader Shannean.  Lastly there is my contribution, also with Whisper White, but feature colours were Melon Mambo and Old Olive with a touch of Pumpkin Pie.  Hope you enjoy looking at the examples, and if you want to see any more let me know and I will get them loaded.

Breast Cancer Awareness Scrap and Stamp Night

Had a fantastic time last night at Louise's Cancer Council fundraiser.  Thought i would share with you the great card that we made, designed by my fabulous up-line Shannean Wood.  The orange and the pink just go so well together, and I will be giving this card to a Kindy Mum who has just had a little girl this week.  The stamp set is Upsy-Daisy (one of my faves) and colours are pumpkin pie and melon mambo, with the lighter pink being regal rose.  Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie are featured in the Tart and Tangy DSP (embossed with gold) papers from Stampin' Up!

Something tropical...

That's the swap card design for my first monthly team meeting with the Paper Dolls (don't you just love our groups name) next Monday.  Am currently channelling palm trees, coconuts and flowers of some description.  Am going to play with a few layout designs tonight and aim to start on it tomorrow.  Challenge to myself - get these done by Friday!

Glitterarty

Love this pic of Jode and I!  Taken at our group's "Glitterarty" weekend away, now an annual event....

Another Example Delightful Decorations

This card was made using sticky die cuts little circles and then glittered with Super Nova.  Daubering was done to the edge of the Kraft Card stock and both of the baubles to add depth.  Nothing like adding a little bling at X Mas time!

Delightful Decorations - I love this stamp set

A cute simple card using Kraft cardstock as my base.  I then inked the cardstock and using the Bauble punch created ornaments from the coordinating Delightful Decorations Set.  It was then just a matter of coordinating the colours and adhering them.
